We have received the following from the Sussex Resilience Forum (SRF), which has launched a campaign to encourage people across the county to prepare for an emergency.

In particular, they are trying to target older adults without access to the internet and the friends, family and carers who support them and encourage them to take simple steps to be better prepared for disruption to power, water or other services, caused by weather this winter.

KEY MESSAGES
Storms and cold snaps can disrupt power, water and other services.

These situations are rare, but being prepared means you can feel confident and in control.Taking three simple steps now will help you be ready for whatever winter brings.

1. Join the Priority Services Register – free extra support for those who need it.
2. Pack a “just in case” bag – having some essentials to hand makes all the di@erence.
3. Know who you can call – write a list of key numbers to keep with your bag.

For more information, to get started on joining the PSR, and to request a free booklet on staying safe in emergencies, call 0800 998 7103 for free or visit www.sussex.police.uk/be-ready.
