Shipley Parish Council Precept

Shipley Parish Council is pleased to confirm that the parish precept for the coming financial year, 2026-7, will be reducing very slightly by 0.05% for the average Band D household.

At a time when we are all feeling the impact of rising prices and higher council tax thresholds set by central government, the Parish Council has worked hard to ensure our element of the bill remains firmly under control. This reduction has been achieved without cutting services and while continuing to invest in projects we know are important to the community.

In recent years the Council has funded a number of important projects, including various traffic safety measures across the parish with more to follow, more recently initiatives undertaken by our new working group, Greener Shipley, as well as ongoing support to the Church, Shipley community Hub and other local charitable and community activities. We also have other significant future commitments ahead of us, not least the replacement of the playground at Coolham Village Hall and some improvements to the periphery of the playing fields we have been consulting on. Despite these pressures, our finances remain in a stable position.

We would like to thank everyone who continues to contribute ideas and feedback, helping us direct spending where it makes the biggest difference for parishioners.
